The Shrine City of Dapitan picked Dr. Virgel C. Binghay as one of the TEN OUTSTANDING YOUNG DAPITANONS, YEAR 2003. The Plaque of Recognition was given to Binghay for his exemplary dedication to Industrial Relations, intellectual integrity, and untiring effort to make a diference in the society today by becoming a better and a more responsible citizen making him a role model for future generations of young Dapitanons. The Chair of the Search Committee, Ms. Hilda Hamoy read the citation while Mayor Rodolfo Carreon, Jr. and Rep. Carreon gave the plaque to Dr. Binghay. The awarding rites was held last June 22, 2003 in Dapitan City on the occasion of the 40th Charter Anniversary of the City.

The Universiti Malaysia Sabah presented this award to Dr. Virgel C. Binghay during the First ASEAN Universities Student Leaders Conference (AUSLEA). Dr. Binghay was invited resource person of the conference that was held last May 21 to 22, 2001 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

Last May 23, 2003, the Philippine Association of Labor Management Councils, Inc. honored Dr. Virgel C. Binghay with "LMC PARTNERSHIP AWARD. The award was handed to Dr. Binghay by PALMCO President Ronald N. Gaspar during the ceremony held at the Casino Filipino Entertainment Hall, Casino Filipino, Tagaytay, Cavite.

The Board of Regents on recommendation of the U.P. President, Dr. Francisco Nemenzo, approved the grant of the Diamond Jubilee Professorial Chair for Asst. Professor of Industrial Relations to Dr. Virgel C. Binghay. The award was given last August 31, 2000 at Quezon City, Philippines.

The Association of Human Resource Managers for Hotels and Restaurants (AHRM) presented this plaque of appreciation to Dr. Virgel C. Binghay for being the JUDGE in the Rank-and-File Category of the Mabuhay Awards 2004. The award was handed to Dr. Binghay by AHRM President Anabelle O. Moreno which was held last November 30, 2004 at the Rizal Ballroom, Makati Shangri-La Manila, Makati City.

The Asian Association of School HRMD Practitioners, Inc. (AASHPI) presented this plaque of appreciation to Dr. Virgel C. Binghay in recognition of his knowledge and experience in the field of industrial relations and human resource development, and for taking the time to share his inspiring insights on the topic, "Rightsizing and Outsourcing: An Important Management Initiative to Maintain Viability" during the 6th Annual Convention of AASHPI held at the Legenda Suites, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales on September 14 to 16, 2005. The award was signed by the AASHPI President Genevieve Ledesma-Tan.
